1963 Franklin Half DDO Help

@aextellcoin I misspoke, for some reason I have always referred to ANACS as a TPG. When I first noticed the DDO I researched but was unsuccessful at identifying a known variety on my own. So, I thought my best option was to send it to them and use their attribution service to identify and then encapsulate a newly discovered variety. However, they came back and said that they were not DDO's. My understanding of their service was that they would reach out to attributors and have them identified as a new variety. I was wrong. Therefore, the 6 coins that I had sent them would not receive a DDO designation, but I was still charged for their attribution service.

This is not my first time with having coins attributed and then sending the letter along with the coin/coins to have it/them encapsulated as a newly discovered variety. Now that I have Dr. James Wiles attribution, I will be taking them to ANACS in their encapsulations with all of my previous paperwork showing that I paid them to attribute these coins. I am hoping that they will do the right thing and re-encapsulate the coins as a new discovery without me having to pay them twice.

you can also reach out to VSS (john baumgart) for consultation although he is not gonna be the one to put new listings up, you'd be hard-pressed to find someone better/more thorough/trustworthy than him (from my dozens of interactions with him over years) if other avenues aren't working out for a time.

it will add a bit more cost but IF you are gonna be doing this kinda stuff, he would be someone you'd want to have open communications with.

for my part i'll try to remember that you seem to know what you are doing and will adjust my actions/words accordingly. i don't treat/speak to newbies and pros them same. it would help if you'd upload a custom avatar as noobs tend to not do that around here but only if you so desire.

A TPG will look up a variety that has ALREADY been listed, then reference that variety to verify what the submitter is sending. If the variety is new then always wait until its showing listed by the club/attributer. This may take a while. A TPG will NOT list anything they cannot verify. Just have to be patient

Nice find! Way to stay with it plus it gives others, including myself some good reason to "stay on it". It's a great feeling to get credit for a new find. I'm still working on one from a "spiked head" penny. Keep it up with the posts please for future coin(s).
