1945-P Jefferson Variety and Error
1945-P FS-803 Obv.jpg 1945-P FS-803 Rev.jpg 1945-P FS-803 CU.jpg I found this in a roll and sent it in. Is this an example of ruptured gas bubbles? There are a couple of smaller ones on the reverse that didn't rupture.Tags: None

What a bummer. I'm not totally sure what that is... I do now that PCGS will NOT let you add that one to your set because of the Defective Planchet or clips etc...
I missed one of these at a coin show about this time last year. Purchased one on e-bay and realized the mistake. Coin was gone next show.... Oh well - It's a NICE example of the DDR anyways!!!

Looking at the examples at error-ref.com, I would say yours isn't an occluded gas bubble but a planchet defect (but not really a lamination issue either).
https://www.error-ref.com/gas-bubbles/
It might "almost" be a ragged clip because of the bumpy texture along the edge.

EDIT- How about an image of the ones on the reverse for comparison?Last edited by Petespockets55; 04-06-2023, 08:51 AM.

ya, i was thinking kinda of a ragged edge but i'm not certain where the line gets drawn officially. it may even be up to the attributer and some opinions may vary.
